Academic and peace activist Bahruz Samadov’s treatment in detention raises serious concerns about possible torture and other ill-treatment. He has reportedly been denied necessary healthcare and held in prolonged solitary confinement at Azerbaijan’s high-security prison for two months. On September 25, 2026, he injured himself during a Supreme Court hearing after his unfair conviction was upheld.

Bahruz Samadov must be immediately and unconditionally released and provided with urgent medical care.
