Internships

AIUSA has a longstanding internship program that offers substantive academic internship opportunities to students and recent graduates. AIUSA has long prided itself on its internship program, which provides training and career direction, with the hope of sparking a deep and lifelong interest in human rights work. In 2018, AIUSA made a commitment to promote diversity and widen access to our internship program, regardless of economic circumstances. As a result, all academic internships at AIUSA are paid internships (either paid directly by AIUSA or by another sponsor).

If you are interested in interning with us and have your own funding, please email [email protected] and provide us with the following information: 

  • In the subject line of the email, please list – “Internship inquiry” 
  • Send us your resume and a cover letter what type of experience you are seeking, any specialized skills, and when you wish to intern (Spring, Summer, Fall) 
  • Your funding source – all interns must be paid $17/hour.

Fellowships

Fellows at AIUSA gain critical human rights experience at Amnesty International USA by working on advocacy strategies, conducting legislative research, drafting memoranda and blogs, managing databases, analyzing emerging areas of relevant law and government policy, tracking the progress of legislation in the United States Congress, and learning about the international human rights framework.  

We hire Fellows throughout the year, pending funding, for fixed terms of 1 year or more. Please see available fellowships in the “current open positions” above. You can also follow us on LinkedIn where we post new roles. 

Interested in Partnering with AIUSA for a Fellowship? 

If you are interested in partnering with AIUSA to develop a fellowship proposal, please send your statement of interest, resume and writing sample to [email protected] with the subject line: Fellowship proposal. The statement of interest should include:

  • A description of your proposed project 
  • What skills and experience you have to execute a project 
  • The funding sources you wish to apply for and relevant deadlines 

We will respond within 7 business days of receiving an email as to whether we match you with the appropriate department to discuss a Fellowship project. Candidates should meet the criteria set forth by a foundation, law school, or third-party funding source and should be able to meet any necessary funder deadlines.

You cannot edit your application after you submit it. Please make sure you have the proper documents prior to beginning your application and review any special instructions listed in the job description. If you experience technical difficulties only, please email [email protected]. 

You can withdraw your application after you submit it. You can request that we delete the application by logging into Paycom and submitting a Candidate Deletion Request. 

Paycom can accept multiple PDF documents and typically request a cover letter and resume for most roles. Please check the job description for any special instructions for documents, as we may request a writing sample for some roles.
