The decisions our leaders make today will shape policy for decades to come.

Donald Trump’s first term as president was marked by bigotry, xenophobia, white supremacist rhetoric, and extensive human rights violations. His administration was responsible for untold damage to human rights in the U.S. and abroad, putting at risk the very institutions responsible for ensuring that all people can live freely in safety and dignity.

This second term must be different, and Amnesty International will continue to fight for everyone’s human rights to be respected.

We must ensure that President-elect Trump and his administration, as well as Congress, governors, mayors, state legislators, city councils and law enforcement officers across this country respect, protect and fulfill human rights, here at home and around the world.

Urge President Biden to take our 6 critical actions before leaving office

We are ready to hold the second Trump administration accountable to international human rights obligations. We will never give up fighting for human rights.

We are no stranger to adversity. For more than six decades, we’ve never backed down, and we are not backing down now.

The world is watching to see if U.S. leaders will actively protect human rights here and worldwide – or deny them.
