Behrouz Ehsani, 69, and Mehdi Hassani, 48, are at imminent risk of execution after the Supreme Court upheld their death sentences in early January. On January 26, they were transferred from Tehran’s Evin prison to Ghezel Hesar prison, Alborz province, raising fears their executions could be implemented at any time. Their grossly unfair trial was marred by allegations of torture and forced “confessions”.
