FRANCE: ACTIVIST AT RISK OF DEPORTATION
Only 180 days left to join us and support this case!

On April 30, French authorities initiated deportation proceedings against Ramy Shaath, a Palestinian activist, placing him at risk of forcible removal from France. Authorities have stated that his presence in France constitutes a “serious threat to public order”. The conclusions appear to be based on his involvement with civil society organizations and statements he made in several protests. However, he has never been convicted or charged for any of these acts. Ramy Shaath has lived in France with his wife and young daughter since 2022. France would breach the principle of non-refoulement if authorities remove him to a place where he would be at real risk of serious human rights violations. Deportation would also result in separating him from his family in France.

The French authorities must immediately halt the deportation proceedings against Ramy Shaath and ensure that he remains in France with a secure legal status and without fear of reprisals.
