Days have turned into more than a year — we’ve watched in devastation as tens of thousands of people have been killed, families ripped apart, hostages taken into captivity, and lives upended amid the ongoing violence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and Israel.

This toolkit provides guidance for Amnesty members and supporters to take action in supporting our calls.

Amnesty continues to call for an enduring ceasefire, the release of all civilian hostages in Gaza, and the freedom of all Palestinians arbitrarily detained by Israel.

We will continue to work to ensure that Israel lifts the unlawful blockade of Gaza, ends its illegal occupation, and dismantles its apartheid system over the Palestinian people.

  • Humanitarian Needs and Access: Immediate steps must be taken to ensure the delivery of urgently needed humanitarian aid and services. Safe passage is critical for those in need of medical care outside of Gaza, and human rights investigators, including forensic experts and international journalists, must be granted unrestricted entry to monitor the situation and document potential human rights violations.
  • Returning Displaced Palestinians: The ceasefire has allowed displaced Palestinians to begin returning to their hometowns, only to find widespread destruction and devastation, particularly in northern Gaza. This underscores the urgent need for international support to rebuild critical infrastructure and ensure the safe return of families.
  • Release of Hostages and Detainees: Phase one of the ceasefire deal is expected to last for six weeks and involve the release of 33 Israeli hostages and 1,900 Palestinian detainees and prisoners. Additional releases are expected in the coming days and weeks.
  • AIUSA’s Advocacy Calls to the U.S. Government: AIUSA continues to call on the U.S. government to take decisive action to sustain the ceasefire and ensure unfettered humanitarian access to the entirety of the Gaza Strip. Furthermore, AIUSA reiterates its demand for the U.S. government to immediately suspend the direct and indirect supply, sale, and transfer of all weapons and military equipment to Israel, and to halt all forms of military and security assistance.
