The specific aim of this event is to develop a broad-based understanding of the multiple sides of human trafficking as it impacts the New York area specifically, that is labor, domestic servitude, and sex trafficking.
Amnesty Groups 9 and 280 aims to illustrate the challenges of insuring victims and assisting and encouraging local police and governmental authorities in eliminating trafficking. Amnesty with The Society and other sponsors intend to
(1) address how trafficking is hidden in our communities;
(2) illustrate the complexities for addressing the issue for both civil and political institutions; (3) illustrate the complexities for law enforcement and legal entities to address the issue of both crime and victim adequately; and (4) provide channels of action for all concerned, through concerted actions, to express outrage and to publicize and work collectively to eradicate human trafficking.
