AmnestyLA is excited to invite you to a virtual film screening and panel discussion of Ligaiya Romero’s documentary Maia Cruz Palileo: Becoming the Moon. Please mark your calendars and join us on Sunday, April 25th at 4 pm PST on Zoom for this screening and live Q&A!

Maia Cruz Palileo: Becoming the Moon is a short film that follows Brooklyn-based artist Maia Cruz Palileo, whose work and pieces explore her Filipino-American heritage and themes of migration, identity, and the permeable concept of home. This film explores Maia as she prepares for her one of her most prominent museum exhibitions yet.

The program will include a live Q&A with director Ligaiya Romero and special guest speakers (tba) following the 12-minute film. To register for this free virtual event, please register here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_DRJzlogOQ-6icbakgFZfJA

This screening is part of a 4-part virtual screening series and campaign, FACES OF MIGRATION: MOVING FORWARD, brought to you by AmnestyLA 1019. Through this special screening of Ligaiya’s film, AmnestyLA hopes to explore a personal and intimate narrative about immigration under the context of the Asian-American experience and Asian diaspora. We also hope to provide an opportunity for a wider audience to speak out against recent hate attacks against the AAPI communities.

We hope you can join us for this timely and engaging screening and discussion!

Sincerely,
AmnestyLA 1019
