North Jersey Amnesty International presents an encore reading of “The Understanding” by local playwright Rachel Rubin Ladutke in commemoration of International Right to Truth Day.
Synopsis: Buenos Aires, Argentina. 1995. Two decades have passed since thousands of people were abducted and killed in the “Dirty War,” and those responsible are just beginning to be brought to justice. As Christmas approaches, the home of Dr. Victor Cordoba, a prominent obstetrician and former Naval officer, is beset by protesters. Inevitably, his adopted daughters, Eva and Sofía, are drawn into the conflict, along with their housekeeper, Reina Reisman, who has worked for the family since the final illness of Victor’s wife six years earlier.
