Worldwide Moratorium on Executions Endorsed at United Nations

On November 15, 2007, the Third Committee of the United Nations General Assembly voted to endorse a resolution calling for a moratorium on executions worldwide. Ninety-nine countries voted in favor, with 52 voting against (including the U.S.), and 33 abstaining.
