Great News! Prisoner Kimanus Wenda recieves medical treatment!

On 12 March, Kimanus Wenda traveled from Nabire prison to Jayapura, capital of Papua province, accompanied by his lawyer, to seek medical treatment for a suspected tumor in his stomach. On 13 March he was examined by a doctor at the Dian Harapan Waena hospital, who confirmed that he was suffering from a hernia and required an operation. The operation took place on 14 March. Kimanus Wenda was kept in the hospital until 17 March for observation, after which he was transferred to Abepura prison nearby. He will stay at Abepura prison while he needs follow-up medical care and will then be transferred back to Nabire prison. Both local and international activists and non-governmental organizations have been highlighting Kimanus Wenda's case over the last few months.
