Former President Bush Cancels Visit to Switzerland

Former President George W. Bush’s planned trip to Switzerland was canceled after Amnesty International and other groups prepared a dossier on his administration’s use of torture and pressured the Swiss authorities to open an investigation to coincide with his visit. Bush’s spokesman cited ‘security concerns’ for the cancellation of the trip but we see a parallel with former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld’s decision to cancel a trip to Munich in 2005 in similar circumstances.
