(Washington, DC)– Suzanne Nossel, Amnesty International USA executive director, issued the following quote in response to the U.S. Senate's rejection of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities:
"Amnesty International USA is appalled that the U.S. Senate failed to stand for the human rights of people with disabilities. The United States has nothing to fear from a treaty that takes inspiration from the Americans with Disabilities Act, and which has the potential to advance the rights and dignity of millions of people with disabilities worldwide. The next Congress must make ratification a priority."
