Human rights must be at the core of all decisions made in the Presidential Palace over the next five years, said Amnesty International following the election of Karol Nawrocki as President of Poland.

Anna Błaszczak-Banasiak, the Director of Amnesty Poland, said:

“The election campaign sadly was once again run on hatred dividing our society. We will closely monitor any actions by President Karol Nawrocki that are marked by hatred, xenophobia and discrimination against minorities and vulnerable groups, which may lead to an increasing devaluation of human rights, tolerance and human dignity.”
