NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio “Did the Right Thing” By Dropping Stop-and-Frisk Appeal

(NEW YORK CITY) – In response to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio's promise to reform stop-and-frisk police tactics, Thenjiwe McHarris, Senior Campaigner at Amnesty International USA, issued the following statement:

"We applaud the efforts of advocates and community members to put an end to racial profiling and other discriminatory policing practices in NYC. Mayor De Blasio did the right thing today by deciding to take steps to drop the appeal on the Floyd stop-and-frisk lawsuit.

"It is time that the city of New York move away from discriminatory policing practice that has violated the rights of countless men, women and children."
