Federal Judge in Maryland Rules Against Muslim Ban Hours After Hawaii Ruling

October 18, 2017

A federal judge in Maryland has ruled against President Trump’s Muslim ban mere hours after a judge in Hawaii blocked its implementation. Naureen Shah, senior director of campaigns at Amnesty International USA, made the following statement:

“President Trump has made it clear that this ban is intended to target Muslim people, which is unlawful. This ruling is based in part on President Trump’s own words, which are inflammatory and baseless. If this ban is ever allowed to take full effect, it will inscribe bigotry into law and will harm thousands of people around the world.”
