Following today’s release of the Department of State Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, Adotei Akwei, managing director of government relations for Amnesty International USA, issued the following statement:
“These reports can be an invaluable roadmap for shaping U.S. foreign policy. Though they are rich in information, they have historically been ignored by the very government that produces them. The Obama administration has repeatedly said that human rights are a priority. We ask that the U.S. government follows its own example and takes these findings to heart.”
Amnesty International USA is reviewing the reports and will have a more detailed analysis of the findings shortly.
