(Washington, DC) – Following the execution of Mark Stroman, Brian Evans of Amnesty International USA’s Death Penalty Abolition Campaign released the following statement:

“This execution comes in retaliation for Stroman’s shooting spree, which was itself in retaliation for the attacks of September 11. With the surviving victim of Stroman’s crimes making heartfelt pleas to stop the execution, Texas had a golden opportunity to end this cycle of brutality. Instead, authorities took the low road and committed yet another pointless act of violence and revenge.”
