Nadia Daar is the newly appointed AIUSA Executive Director. She previously served as AIUSA’s Chief Strategy and Impact Officer, overseeing the organization’s programs, advocacy, campaigning, research and communications work covering a range of human rights issues on both the domestic and foreign policy fronts. In this role, she is ultimately responsible for overseeing the human rights impact of the organization.
Prior to joining AIUSA, Nadia was Head of Oxfam International’s Washington, D.C., office for several years, leading their advocacy, policy and world-wide network to influence international financial institutions and advance economic and social rights for communities. Before that, she worked to uphold community engagement, accountability and rights in development across the Middle East and North Africa in her work at the Bank Information Center.
Nadia was a co-host on the podcast EQUALS: Reimagining our Economy from 2019-2023, has guest lectured at several universities and has authored various publications. She has worked and engaged with NGOs, grassroots activists, impacted communities, and governments across a range of countries over 20 years to advance social justice and human rights. She holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in political science from the University of Toronto and York University, respectively, and was named one of Washington, D.C.’s top women leaders for 2025.
