Daphne Eviatar directs the SWHR program at AIUSA. A lawyer and former journalist, she leads AIUSA’s advocacy for US national security policy to respect human rights and comply with international law. Daphne is an expert on US practices of indefinite detention, torture and other forms of mistreatment, the Guantanamo Bay detention camp, and US use of lethal force, including via drones, in its “global war on terror”, and its impact on civilians. She’s been interviewed widely on these subjects and has published in the New York Times, Washington Post, Politico, Foreign Policy and many other news outlets.
