Urgent
Action Network

We’re showing up to defend people and communities whose human rights are under immediate threat.

WHAT IS THE URGENT ACTION NETWORK?

Put simply, our collective action can save a life.

When a person’s human rights are under attack, our global movement responds. We write letters, make calls, and organize in our communities to press for urgent action.

Together, we’ve freed thousands of prisoners of conscience, driven systemic change, and advocated in solidarity with individuals at risk.

FEATURED VICTORY

Toomaj Salehi Released from prison

Iran: UA 44.24

On December 1, 2024, Iranian hip-hop artists and rapper Toomaj Salehi was released from prison. Toomaj was arrested in October 2022 solely in relation to his participation in protests during the “Women Life Freedom” uprising and his criticism of the Iranian authorities’ human rights violations and executions and calling for human rights and freedom for the people of Iran.

Amnesty continues to call on the Iranian authorities to drop all criminal proceedings against Toomaj Salehi. We are also calling on him to be granted full reparations proportional to the gravity of violations and harm suffered.

Toomaj was also featured in Amnesty USA’ 2024 Banned Books Week Action.
