All are invited to participate in our monthly activists gathering, which has gone virtual during the COVID-19 pandemic.   Each month we come together to discuss local and global human rights issues, plan and coordinate activities to promote and protect human rights, and take action on pressing human rights concerns!  We are people from the greater Ames, Iowa community who case about human rights!

Global cases that we focus on include the case of Masood Janjua and Faisal Faraz who disappeared together in Rawalpindi, Pakistan on July 30, 2005.  Our group has been actively working on this case since 2010.  In addition, we are also working on the case of Zak Kostopoulas of Greece who was a a well known and active member of the LGBTQ community.  On September 21, 2018 Zak was beaten nearly to death in broad daylight in a store by 2 men and when police arrived they did not help him and actually kicked him. He died.  We are calling on the authorities in Greece to hold those responsible in Zak’s death accountable to this crime!

Come, engage, and learn how you can join in global and local action to promote and protect human rights!
