Nigerian Torture Survivor Freed!
Two activists associated with a prominent anti-discrimination NGO continue to be held in a detention center in Henan province. They have been detained on suspicion of ‘illegal business operations’, but it is believed this is solely due to their connection with the organization Yirenping, as part of a wider crackdown on civil society groups in China.
Dr Sa'eed Mothaher Habib al-Samahiji was released on 1 July. He had completed his one-year sentence.
Oleg Savvin, Mikhail Feldman and Dmitriy Fonarev, who have spent more than a year in detention for raising the German flag over an official building in Kaliningrad on 4 March 2014, were released on 17 June.
Dogius Koly Théa and Kala Honomou, two men arbitrarily detained in Guinea, have been granted provisional release on health grounds. Authorities continue to conduct investigations into their case.
