Moses Akatugba was imprisoned at 16 years old, tortured, and sentenced to death. Ten years and over 800,000 actions later, he walked out of prison on June 2, 2015.

Myat Nu Khaing, medical doctor and former election candidate, was released from Insein prison in Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city, on 17 April. She was released as part of a Presidential pardon which saw the release of 83 prisoners, including prisoners of conscience Amnesty International has campaigned for.

Unity journalists Lu Maw Naing, Yarzar Oo, Paing Thet Kyaw, Sithu Soe and the newspaper’s chief executive officer Tint San were released from Pakokku prison in Myanmar’s Magway Region on 17 April. They were released as part of a Presidential pardon which saw the release of 83 prisoners, including prisoners of conscience Amnesty International has campaigned for.

Htin Lin Oo, writer and former spokesperson for the National League for Democracy (NLD), was released from Monywa prison in Myanmar’s Sagaing Region on 17 April. He was released as part of a Presidential pardon which saw the release of 83 prisoners, including prisoners of conscience Amnesty International has campaigned for.
