Moses Akatugba was imprisoned at 16 years old, tortured, and sentenced to death. Ten years and over 800,000 actions later, he walked out of prison on June 2, 2015.

Syrian refugee M.K., who had been arbitrarily detained at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen airport since 9 November 2015, was released on 29 March. He is required to go to the central Anatolian province of Aksaray to await a decision on his international protection application. He will not be detained while awaiting the decision.

Prominent journalist and columnist Jia Jia went missing on 15 March while he was due to board a flight to Hong Kong. His disappearance may be connected with an online letter critical of President Xi Jinping. He was released on 27 March.

Former Kuwaiti opposition MP Saleh al-Mulla was acquitted by the Appeal Court on 9 March of “insulting the Amir of Kuwait and the President of Egypt” on his Twitter account.

Qatari poet Mohammed al-Ajami, a prisoner of conscience, was released on 15 March when the Emir of Qatar pardoned him unconditionally.
