Detained Student Activist Released!
Eight students from the Holy Quran University in Omdurman arrested and detained on 14 November 2015 by the National Intelligence Security (NISS) have been released.
A Swedish national who had been held in secret detention since 3 January on suspicion of “endangering state security” has been released and deported to Sweden. His girlfriend has also been released, and remains in China.
Disabled student Israa al-Taweel has been freed from house arrest, as security measures against her have been reduced.
Seven activists who had been criminally detained after gathering outside a court in Beijing during the trial of prominent human rights lawyer Pu Zhiqiang have been released.
