Nigerian Torture Survivor Freed!
Three Saudi Arabian lawyers convicted over messages posted on Twitter deemed offensive to the Ministry of Justice have had their prison sentences quashed by an appeal court.
Vietnamese blogger and prisoner of conscience Ta Phong Tan was released on 19 September after serving four years of a 10-year prison sentence. She was immediately put on a plane to Los Angeles, in the USA, where she is now effectively in exile.
Three Emirati sisters were released on 15 May in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). They had been secretly detained since 15 February. Their brother is a prisoner of conscience.
Qatari national, Hamad Ali Mohammad al-Hamadi, who had been sentenced to 10 years in prison, was pardoned by the president of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and deported back to Qatar on 22 May.
