Amnesty's Shadow Summit for Afghan Women's Rights

During the NATO Summit in Chicago in May 2012, Amnesty activists were there holding their own "Shadow Summit" to underscore concerns that NATO leaders are ignoring Afghan women's rights in planning for the military exit.

Amnesty International activists participated in a mass kite-flying demonstration at Navy Pier after the Shadow Summit. In a mass online action, people around the world submitted personal messages of solidarity with Afghan women to appear on the kites that were flown in Chicago.
