Azerbaijani political activist Faraj Karimov and his brother Siraj Karimov have complained of torture in detention to make them “confess” to drug-related crimes.
Political activist Faraj Karimov went missing on 23 July. It was later revealed that police had detained him, but his whereabouts are still not known, and he is at risk of torture.
The anonymous detainee’s lawyers have been sent a copy of an order to open a criminal case against prison staff. More appeals will help to ensure the authorities pursue this complaint.
