International Day in Support of Victims of Torture - Demonstration & Petition Signing

We will meet outside of the Washtenaw County Courthouse (at Main & Huron St. in downtown Ann Arbor, MI) to hold a demonstration in effort to raise awareness and support for victims of torture. Petitions related to the NDAA, and the cases of Shaker Amer and Maher Arar will be available to sign. We will be bringing relevant demonstration signs but you can also choose to bring your own sign.

For the past 50 years, Amnesty International has been at the forefront of the human rights movement. Our work focuses on issues such as ending torture; abolishing the death penalty; ensuring freedom of expression; protecting civilians in conflict zones; and guaranteeing the rights of women, children, and minorities. Join us, a network of 3 million activists across the globe, to write letters, plan events, and help build a world in which everyone's human rights are respected.
