Thank you for bringing your incredible energy to this year's AGM! It was a great success, thanks to all the members and activists that convened to Rise Up for Rights! We kicked off the weekend with a rally for Immigrants Rights' that resonated throughout Denver. We heard the inspiring stories of activists who fight for human rights around the world. Jenni Williams, this year's Ginetta Sagan Award winner, shared how she persevered in standing up for human rights in the face of great personal risk. The young leaders of the Occupy movement and the Egyptian revolution motivated AIUSA's youth to work towards even greater human rights goals. Veterans of the death penalty abolition movement detailed how their many years of activism have succeeded in bringing the US to the verge of abolition. Our new Executive Director, Suzanne Nossel, roused our members to continue their work, and we honored the AIUSA groups that have achieved the most in the past year. Together we strengthened our commitment to protecting human rights for all.
We especially want to thank the city of Denver, which welcomed us with open arms. This conference would not have been possible without the contribution of the students at UC-Denver's Digital Design program, the Denver Public Library, and the AIUSA groups in Colorado.
