Great News! Somali Man Realeased in United Arab Emirates

Somali national Boqor Osman Mohamoud was released on 5 January and has been reunited with his relatives. He was arrested by security forces on 17 November 2011 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Boqor Osman Mohamoud (also known as Buurmadow), aged about 45, is a traditional elder from the self-declared Republic of Somaliland in north western Somalia. He was arrested when he landed at Abu Dhabi airport in the UAE, on his return from a pilgrimage to the Muslim holy city of Mecca in Saudi Arabia.

He is now at home in the UAE with his wife. The circumstances surrounding his release remain unclear.
