On May 15th of 2014, Israeli forces unlawfully shot and killed Palestinian teenagers Nadeem Nawara, 17, and Mohammad Abu Daher, 16. They were shot dead outside Israel’s Ofer military base in the West Bank, part of the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
U.S. Congresswoman Betty McCollum is calling on the U.S. State Department to raise these killings with the Israeli government and demand accountability for those responsible. In a letter to senior U.S. diplomats, Rep. McCollum calls for an investigation of whether the killings of Nadeem Nawara and Mohammed Daher constitute violations of the U.S. "Leahy Law." If the killings do violate the U.S. “Leahy Law,” the responsible Israeli units would be ineligible to receive future U.S. military aid and training. Read more
