Two government critics and their neighbor were released on 9 December. Their charges have not been dropped and they have now been placed under house arrest.
Farouk Abu Issa and Dr Amin Maki Medani were arrested by agents of the Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Services. They have been held incommunicado since then, without charge.
Zainab Al-Khawaja was sentenced on 9 December to one year and four months’ imprisonment for “insulting a public servant” and “destroying government property”.
Loujain al-Hathloul and Mayssa al-Amoudi are both supporters of the campaign for women’s right to drive in Saudi Arabia. They are prisoners of conscience.
