The human rights attack on immigrant communities in Georgia and the South has reached unprecedented levels in recent years, with deportations tearing thousands of families apart. In 2010, Georgia passed an Arizona copycat bill and banned undocumented students from attending the state’s top five public universities. Yet, while the attacks are strong, so is the resistance and determination of immigrant communities to fight for their right to remain and come out of the shadows. Led by undocumented youth, this presentation will explore the current struggle of immigrant communities in Georgia and the country, for dignity, respect and human rights.
