Death Penalty Protest Events

7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. Protest on the northwest and southeast corners of the intersection of 11th and Market Streets, Wilmington. First & Central Presbyterian Church, 1101 N. Market Street is near the northwest corner and Rodney Square is at the southeast corner of the intersection. Signs protesting the death penalty will be available or bring your own. Come for morning or afternoon times or both.


7:30 p.m. Interfaith Service, location to be announced.


10:30 p.m. Vigil on the grounds of the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center, which continues until the official pronouncement of death some time after midnight. Meet at the Smyrna Rest Area, 5500 Dupont Pkwy, Smyrna, DE between 9:30 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. for transportation in groups to the prison. Personal vehicles will not be permitted at the prison. We will be outside for the duration of the vigil, so dress accordingly.

Also on April 20th we are having a Death Penalty Symposium at Widener University of Law form 8:00 am – 1:00 p.m. The cost for the general public is $20 and for lawyers to receive CLES it ranges from $75-$125.
