Human Rights Concerns

For nearly two decades, Northern Uganda has been ravaged by conflict. Thousands of civilians have been subject to brutal attacks, rape, torture, extra-judicial execution and destruction of homes and communities. In the last several years, there has been some movement toward justice, including the opening of investigations at the International Criminal Court, but the progress has been slow and marred by continued violence.

Uganda: Anti-Homosexuality Bill
Uganda is considering a draconian, far-reaching bill that, if enacted, would violate international human rights law and institutionalize discrimination against those who are or are perceived to be lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender (LGBT). 

Introduced by a Parliamentarian on September 25, 2009, the Anti-Homosexuality Bill proposes some of the world's toughest punishments against LGBT persons and those perceived to be LBGT.
