Biography: Mr. Davis’ practice emphasizes complex criminal litigation that pertains to criminal law and criminal procedure. He has been death penalty certified by the Washington State Supreme Court since 2000 to represent indigent clients charged with capital offenses that could result in the imposition of the death penalty. He has been lead trial counsel in numerous death penalty cases and has successfully negotiated the removal of the death penalty option on all of his assigned cases. None of his clients have ever been executed.
Mr. Davis was sworn in by the State of Washington and the U.S. Federal Court in 1984 to represent clients charged with State and Federal offenses. He has also had numerous articles published on subjects ranging from mass incarceration, police violence and issues regarding the death penalty juror selection process.
Mr. Davis graduated from the Seattle University School of Law. He has coordinated the education and training for both the felony and misdemeanor units for his office. He is currently an active co-founding Board member for the National Association for Public Defense (NAPD) Death Penalty Subcommittee; a member of the Washington Defenders Association (WDA); and a member of the Washington Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (WACDL).
