The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence is a global campaign running from Nov. 25 (the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) through Dec. 10 (International Human Rights Day) in which thousands of people and organizations around the world (including Amnesty International) take a stand against gender-based violence. AI's theme this year is 16 Shelters for 16 Days - the importance of creating safe secure shelters for women fleeing violence - and includes actions on 16 countries including the USA.
