PATRICK STEWART
Why he supports students' human rights work
"I wanted to invest in humanity by encouraging the human rights activism of young people. They have repaid by challenging injustice, documenting oppression, and changing the world for the better."--Patrick Stewart

Mr. Stewart has been involved and passionate about human rights issues for more than a decade. In 1996 he established the Patrick Stewart Human Rights Scholarship with Amnesty International USA.
"Before my involvement through the scholarship program, I'd never thought of hands-on, human rights work in connection with people like me. Over the years I've watched how it enables young people to put themselves in others' shoes and experience firsthand the demands and rewards of this challenging work. I am proud to help young people transform their dedication to human rights into action that impacts the lives of everyone around them."
