Detained Student Activist Released!
Ten families from Building #3 in Ulaanbaatar (UB), previously facing homelessness during this severe winter, have been provided with alternative housing. The Building is now empty of inhabitants.
Bahraini political activist Ebrahim Sharif’s one year prison sentence was upheld on 7 November by the Appeal Court. He remains free having already completed one year in prison on 11 July. On 13 November the Prosecution brought a new charge against him which was then dropped on 23 November.
Francisco Mapanda (also known as Dago Nível Intelecto) was released from Comarca de Caquila prison on 21 November, seven days earlier than when he was due to be released. The reason for his early release is unknown.
Dilip Roy, a 22-year-old student activist, has been granted bail after spending more than two months in jail without charge in Rajshahi in Bangladesh. He was arrested in August for two Facebook posts criticising Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
