Detained Student Activist Released!
Prisoner of conscience Mahmoud Mohamed Ahmed Hussein was released on 25 March after spending more than two years in detention without trial.
Two Libyan men, Mo’ad Mohammad al-Hashmi al-Harari and ‘Adel Rajeb Nasef, were acquitted of all charges by the Federal Supreme Court in the United Arab Emirates on 14 March. Mo’ad Mohammed al-Hashmi was released on 27 March and ‘Adel Rajeb Nasef on 28 March.
Mexican human rights defender Gustavo Castro Soto, sole witness to the murder of Indigenous leader Berta Cáceres, has returned to Mexico. Honduran authorities had previously ordered him to remain in the country until 6 April.
Kachin peace activist Patrick Kum Jaa Lee has been released on 1 April after serving his 6 months sentence. He was imprisoned for a Facebook post mocking the Myanmar army.
