Nigerian Torture Survivor Freed!
Kuwaiti human rights activist Nawaf al-Hendal was acquitted on 1 March, along with 10 other men, of charges including “illegal gathering”.
Two activists from Lutte pour le Changement (LUCHA), Juvin Kombi Narcisse and Pascal Byumanine have been sentenced to three months in prison and fined 100,000 Congolese Francs (about 100 US Dollars) for organizing an ‘illegal’ demonstration. Seven others who were arrested with them have been acquitted.
Eight students from the Holy Quran University in Omdurman arrested and detained on 14 November 2015 by the National Intelligence Security (NISS) have been released.
Manuel Trujillo and Manuela Pacheco, community leaders in San Pablo de Amalí, central Ecuador, have been acquitted of the unsubstantiated charges of organized terrorism.
