Nigerian Torture Survivor Freed!

Moses Akatugba was imprisoned at 16 years old, tortured, and sentenced to death. Ten years and over 800,000 actions later, he walked out of prison on June 2, 2015.

August 7, 2015

Two South Sudanese pastors, Reverend Yat Michael and Reverend Peter Yen, were released on 5 August after being sentenced to time already served in Khartoum, Sudan. The two have been in detention since their arrests on 21 December 2014 and 11 January 2015 respectively.

February 24, 2015

On 23 February, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals issued a stay of execution in the case of Rodney Reed, who was due to be put to death on 5 March for a murder in 1996 which he has consistently said he did not commit.

March 15, 2013

The Maryland House of Delegates followed the lead of the state Senate and passed the death penalty repeal bill making Maryland the 18th state to abandon capital punishment, and the 6th state in 6 years to join the abolition club.

April 19, 2012

Connecticut Governor Dannel P. Malloy signed into law the repeal of Connecticut's death penalty, making his state the 17th, and the 5th in the last 5 years, to do away with capital punishment.
