Nigerian Torture Survivor Freed!

Moses Akatugba was imprisoned at 16 years old, tortured, and sentenced to death. Ten years and over 800,000 actions later, he walked out of prison on June 2, 2015.

Dr Sa'eed Mothaher Habib al-Samahiji was released on 1 July. He had completed his one-year sentence.

June 19, 2015

Oleg Savvin, Mikhail Feldman and Dmitriy Fonarev, who have spent more than a year in detention for raising the German flag over an official building in Kaliningrad on 4 March 2014, were released on 17 June.

April 22, 2015

Foudama Ousmane, a detainee who was at risk of blindness, was examined by a doctor on the morning of 20 April and prescribed medication for his eyes. This was as a direct result of the mobilization of Amnesty International’s members around the world who called and sent emails to authorities in Cameroon, after an Urgent Action was issued on 16 April.

Sandara Farouq Kadouda was released on 15 April. She had been abducted on 12 April by a group of men in civilian clothes, believed to belong to the National Intelligence Security Service (NISS).
