Executions by State

Executions by State

Below are execution statistics for every state (and the Federal government) from 1976 to the present. Executions are also broken down by method, and there is a list of states and other jurisdictions without the death penalty. Two states (Kansas and New Hampshire) are not abolitionist but have had no executions; they are not listed. For execution statistics prior to 1976 (and through 2002), see the Death Penalty Information Center's display of data from The Espy File.

You can also find information about executions by year, method, or view the current schedule of executions in the U.S.
