(Washington, D.C.) — Amnesty International USA (AIUSA) announced today that it will begin the recruitment process for a new Executive Director. A Search Committee composed of members, staff, and the Board, will work with Koya Leadership Partners to recruit an Executive Director to lead the U.S. section of the grassroots human rights organization.
“Grassroots organizing is at the heart of Amnesty International and the Executive Director must have a deep respect for the power of the people in affecting social change,” said Shahram Hashemi, Chair, Amnesty International USA Board of Directors. “We are looking for someone committed to Amnesty International’s mission, an inspirational leader who can galvanize and expand our movement and engage the next generation of human rights defenders.”
The AIUSA Executive Director leads the largest section of the Amnesty International global movement, building on a member-driven 50-year history of investigating and exposing abuses, educating and mobilizing the public, and helping transform societies to create a safer, more just world.
AIUSA is headquartered in New York City and has over 300,000 members, including more than 1,000 student and local groups, and nearly 1 million supporters across the United States. With projected revenue of $36.6 million, AIUSA employs more than 100 full-time staff based primarily in New York and Washington, D.C. with additional field offices in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco.
