(New York) — Between December 5th and 16th, Amnesty International will host its 10th global letter writing marathon, inviting human rights supporters to write, tweet and blog in support of victims of human rights abuses worldwide.

The event began with a small group of activists in Poland who wrote letters for a period of 10 days (in some cases, in 24-hour events) for the release of 12 individuals.

This year, thousands of activists from across the world will be campaigning on behalf of ten entities, including Pussy Riot, Reggie Clemons, and Noxolo Nogwaza, whose stories illustrate some of the main human rights crises of 2012.

Supporters can take action or view the cases at https://www.amnestyusa.org/write4rights.

Amnesty International is a Nobel Peace Prize-winning grassroots activist organization with more than 3 million supporters, activists and volunteers in more than 150 countries campaigning for human rights worldwide. The organization investigates and exposes abuses, educates and mobilizes the public, and works to protect people wherever justice, freedom, truth and dignity are denied.
