On Saturday April 29, 2006, Amnesty International USA, along with the support of internationally recognized artists and performers, hosted a concert event to raise awareness and action for the people of Darfur. The lineup included the Nightwatchman (Tom Morello solo acoustic) and acoustic sets by members of Incubus, Suzanne Vega and Collective Soul.
The event's aim was to draw special attention to, and inspire action on, the continuing human rights crisis in Darfur, which has claimed 200,000 lives and forced more then two million people to flee their homes. On April 29th, we made some noise for Darfur!
Now, Music For Human Rights is holding an online auction for Darfur featuring items donated by performers at the concert, and much more! Offerings include Fender guitars signed by our music supporters, autographed t-shirts, photos, posters and prints, plus cosmetics, jewelry, and apparel. The auction began May 12 at 7:00 p.m. EST.
Check out the music of the concert performers. For every purchase you make at Amazon through our website Amnesty International USA will receive up to 10% of the sale.
And download classic Lennon tracks covered by today's artists at the Make Some Noise site.
Amnesty International would like to thank Mira Sorvino for her help with the Darfur Concert and the Darfur Auction and for all of her continued support.
