Title:   DECISION ON THE RESOLUTION DEADLINE
Resolved:

WHEREAS the government, property, affairs, business and concerns of AIUSA are entrusted to its Board of Directors; and

WHEREAS an Annual General Meeting resolution is the primary formal process by which the membership of AIUSA can make decisions that shall be binding on the AIUSA Board; and

WHEREAS the AIUSA Resolutions Committee has the primary responsibility in providing background information to membership in making decisions at the Annual General Meeting; and

WHEREAS the current four-week rolling deadline presented significant challenges both to sponsors and to the Resolutions Committee in preparing complete and accurate background for the 2003 regional conferences; and

RECOGNIZING that the Resolutions Committee requires time and resources to compile the complete and balanced background information crucial to making informed decisions on resolutions; and

NOTING that it is unfair to members to not have the most complete, accurate and clear information regarding the implications and arguments for resolutions possible;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the deadline for submission of resolutions for consideration at the Regional Conferences be September 1; and

FURTHER ACKNOWLEGING that this deadline places hardship on student groups whose academic year begins close to the September 1 deadline;

THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the deadline for submission of resolutions from students be given a deadline of September 15.
